The Journey To Holistic Wellness And A Career In Nursing

Ifeoma Okwu’s personal and professional experiences have influenced her passion for, and commitment to, holistic medicine. From the time Ifeoma was young, she knew she wanted to be in the nursing field and help others. However, when an unexpected diagnosis of premature ovarian failure (AKA premature menopause) threatened her chances of ever conceiving a child naturally, she became more committed than ever to enter the field of nursing, combining both eastern and western approaches in holistically treating disease and illness with compassion and purpose.

After high school, Ifeoma attended college at San Francisco State University where she majored in Health Education. From there, she interned at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) as a clinical researcher, and eventually became hired to conduct clinical research in the department of OBGYN and Reproductive Sciences conducting reproductive and gynecological research on acute and chronic health conditions. Ifeoma was also promoted to clinical researcher II, working in the field of Family and Community Medicine conducting field research on diabetes management and prevention.

A Practice Grounded In Holistic Medicine, A Commitment To Continuing Education

Ifeoma Okwu went on to pursue her Master’s in Nursing at UCSF, one of the nations top nursing schools. She became licensed as a family nurse practitioner and went on to become board-certified in the field of family medicine.
